Our Horse Heroes

Introducing our magnificent horse heroes! Each one has their own personality and story, making them truly special. From the playful spirits to the gentle giants. Come meet these amazing creatures and discover the unique qualities that make them shine!

Clancy

Clancy joined our family in early 2025. A Welsh/Arabian born around 2000, he has been used in multiple disciplines throughout his life, including English, Western, and 4H Horse Shows.

Dutch

Dutch is a Missouri Fox Trotter and was born in 2005. He is Registered under the name Playboy’s Legend Diamond. He came to SunCatcher in the fall of 2019 where we gave him all winter to recover from an injury. He goes by many nicknames, including Surfer Dude and Fabio.

Pony

Pony Expresso is a sweet 25-year-old AQHA gelding on loan to SunCatcher from Dawn Newland since 2023. In his past life, he won the 2012 AQHA Ranch Horse of the Year Summer circuit. He has quickly learned the ropes here but is fast becoming a favorite!

Rebar

Rebar is our resident mule born in 2002. He joined SunCatcher in 2022 after his family developed health problems. The saying “stubborn as a mule” rings true with this sweet boy. Although stubborn, he is very gentle and sweet with our riders.

Sarge

Sarge is an Appaloosa gelding born 2005, who just joined SunCatcher in 2025 thanks to the generosity of the The Graese Family Foundation. He has been a family and trail horse his whole life, and we are thankful to add him to our program.

Sunny

Sunny is a gelding pony born in 2007. He is on loan to SunCatcher while his young family builds their home outside of Sturgis.

Up and Coming Heroes

Ta'te

Ta’te is a beautiful black and white American Paint Horse gelding, born in 2007. His purchase in 2023 was made possible by a generous donor. His registered name is KC MUCHO BLANCO. He is easily distracted but loves all of his participants and carries the nickname Tater Tot by his favorites.

Ta'te recently underwent eye surgery, he is recovering quickly and should be back in session soon!
